There is nothing like the city of Chicago on a warm summer night, with picturesque views of the architecture, juxtaposed against life, playing out before your eyes. As I post this, summer 2024 is drawing to a close. if you are on the lookout for a nice place to dine, with outdoor seating, try 9 Muses Bar & Grill. It’s located in Chicago’s Greektown area.
In case you didn’t know, the term 9 muses has a bit of historical significance. These were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, who serve as inspiration (muses) for the arts and sciences. The restaurant itself displays a quaint mixture of somewhat garish art, balanced against a more traditional, Greek motif. It’s a great place for a festive, medium sized get-together.
The food is excellent. The Mediterranean chicken dish was spectacular, and while I’ve had donuts before, there’s something special to be said about “Loukoumades”, (essentially donut holes), served with a shot of “ouzo”. Next to Caribbean rum, this is the smoothest alcohol you could ever want to taste. Shoutout to Perry Fatopolous for this restaurant recommendation.
