I have to admit this made my heart smile… I may have even shed a tear or two, as much as my toxic masculinity allows, of course. To feel like your work can make a positive impact on the next generation is bigger to me than any royalty check or cash distribution.
This entertainment group is known for their collaborations with Twista, Chance the Rapper and many other legendary Chicago icons. Their artistic director is a friend of mine and I sent her the first track I did with DJ Slugo. Recently I was tagged in this video, and to see how much they actually like it… kind of feels like we won an award.
The Happiness Club is a free performing arts program in Chicago that gives kids and teens ages 8 to 18 a chance to explore their talents in singing, dancing, and rap. Through fun rehearsals and live performances, participants create and perform original hip-hop and pop music that shares positive messages about kindness, education, respect, and standing up against bullying. The program helps young people build confidence, make friends, and express themselves in a supportive and encouraging environment.
